Sample Emails for Sick Leave to Manager

Due to circumstances unforeseen by us, we sometimes have to take sick leave. When we don’t feel well, have a headache, stomach ache, have caught a virus, etc. the reasons can be various. In this case, we should inform our team leader/manager/boss. You can send him an email, a phone message, or call him. It’s up to you. In this post, we will give you some ideas of sample emails, phrases that you can send to your manager when you need to take sick leave.

Phrases to use:

I will be absent today because I don’t feel well.
I won’t be able to come to work.
I’ll have to take a leave sick.
I’m feeling ill and have to take a sick leave.
I will miss the meeting because I have a migraine.
I’m on my period and I feel really awful.

Request to take a sick leave:

Will I be able to take sick leave for the next three days?
Can I take a day off tomorrow?
Could I extend my sick leave for two more days?

Sample emails to your manager:

EXAMPLE 1

Hi boss, I’m not feeling very well today so I’m going to take a sick leave. I don’t have any urgent tasks at the moment so hopefully, everything will be okay. I’ll let you know when I’m feeling better and can return to work.

EXAMPLE 2

I’ve been feeling a lot of pain in my knee for a few days now, so I’ve decided to go for a check-up tomorrow. I will take a sick leave and miss tomorrow’s weekly meeting.
